6ª Conferência Nacional das Cidades inicia etapa municipal em 1º de janeiro de 2016

A sexta edição da Conferência Nacional das Cidades, que será realizada em Brasília no período de 5 a 9 de junho de 2017, inicia pela etapa municipal, que ocorre de 1º de janeiro a 5 de julho de 2016.

O encontro, um dos espaços de diálogo entre o Governo e a Sociedade, discutirá soluções para os problemas decorrentes da urbanização intensa que o Brasil vem sofrendo desde a metade do século passado, quando deixou de ser um país rural e passou a ser uma nação urbanizada. Cerca de 160 milhões de brasileiros estão vivendo nas cidades. Essa concentração da população nas áreas urbanas, sem o planejamento adequado, trouxe alguns desafios para a qualidade de vida da geração atual, comprometendo a sustentabilidade no futuro. Na Conferência, a sociedade organizada, representada por seus delegados, cumprirá mais uma etapa, a fim de que se pavimente a travessia da cidade que temos para a cidade que queremos.

Com o tema “Função Social da Cidade e da Propriedade”, o encontro demonstrará a importância do interesse coletivo. O lema “Cidades Inclusivas, Participativas e Socialmente Justas” proclama o caráter igualitário e equânime e suscita a compreensão do conceito da função social da cidade e da propriedade, ainda pouco assimilado pela sociedade, mas que nós do saneamento, que batalhamos pela universalização de nossos serviços, entendemos muito bem estes conceitos.

Criado há mais de dez anos, o Conselho das Cidades faz parte deste empenho para avançar na agenda urbana, atuando segundo uma diretiva baseada na democracia e no pluralismo. A ABES é representada no ConCidades por Darci Campani, da ABES-RS. A Conferência de 2017 elegerá as entidades para o sexto mandato do Conselho das Cidades.

O Regimento da 6ª Conferência, aprovado pelo ConCidades, Resolução Normativa nº 19 de 18 de setembro de 2015, é o documento balizador da realização desse evento.

Para a discussão do tema desta Conferência já está disponível na página do encontro seu texto básico, para o qual a ABES deverá fazer a sua contribuição, para compor o caderno de textos da Conferência.

A mobilização da ABES, visando sua efetiva participação no processo desta 6ª Conferência, é de suma importância para garantirmos que os rumos do saneamento sejam seguidos dentro das diretrizes apontadas pelo Plansab.

Em breve divulgaremos o calendário das Conferências de cada município, para o qual solicitamos que todas as ABES Estaduais mobilizem seus sócios para garantirmos nossos delegados para a Conferência Nacional das Cidades.
