Dia da Conscientização sobre as Mudanças Climáticas: refletir a agir

Em 16 de março comemoramos o Dia da Conscientização sobre as Mudanças Climáticas! E aqui uma pergunta importante: temos consciência sobre esse tema?
O educador Paulo Freire nos falava sobre a importância de, por meio da educação, passarmos da consciência ingênua para a consciência crítica. E talvez seja justamente essa consciência crítica, capaz de gerar mudanças em contextos individuais e coletivos, que ainda falta alcançarmos no que diz respeito às mudanças climáticas.
Então, enquanto isso, o que podemos fazer? Nós da sociedade comum ? Das organizações e entidades não governamentais? Precisamos nos movimentar e sempre indagar aos governantes sobre o futuro do planeta.
E qual futuro nós queremos? E, mais importante, para qual futuro eu posso contribuir?
Acreditamos muito que, por meio de ações de Educação Ambiental podemos favorecer este processo de conscientização junto à toda a sociedade, em especial junto às crianças, para as quais sempre depositamos muita esperança para com a construção e/ou conservação do meio ambiente para as gerações futuras.
Mas as demandas associadas às mudanças climáticas são urgentes, são para já, não apenas pensando no futuro, pois seus efeitos têm sido sentidos cotidianamente por todos.
Quais os mecanismos podemos utilizar então para esse fim?
Nas escolas, por exemplo, os programas didáticos já estão prontos e esta temática é abordada de diferentes maneiras e em diversos níveis de relevância. Não há dúvidas sobre a importância de debater este tema com diferentes públicos: comunidades, setores público e privado, entidades e a sociedade em geral, pois estamos falando de problemas socioambientais que envolvem incertezas, complexidade, contradições científicas e ações urgentes por parte de todos nós!
Este diálogo com diferentes setores da sociedade deve, entretanto, ser horizontal e em linguagem clara, acessível, para se alcançar um nível de entendimento capaz de promover mudanças no cenário atual e de pressionar os governantes quanto à adoção de práticas mais sustentáveis.
