Sessão da BWW sobre mudanças climáticas e eventos extremos discute como gerenciar os impactos na água e no saneamento para melhorar a resiliência

“Mudanças Climáticas e eventos extremos – como gerenciar os impactos na água e no saneamento para melhorar a resiliência?” Este foi o tema que norteou o debate da penúltima sessão desta quinta-feira, 26 de maio, na Brazil Water Week – Semana da Água do Brasil. O assunto integra o tema Meio Ambiente, Mudanças Climáticas e Sustentabilidade.

Realizada pela Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, esta edição da BWW, o maior evento internacional sobre água do país, acontece online até esta sexta (27), em plataforma exclusiva e interativa e já é considerada o streaming do saneamento. Os inscritos têm 90 dias para acessar todo o conteúdo da programação.

A moderação do debate foi feita por Rafael Volquind, coordenador da Câmara Temática de Meio Ambiente da ABES e coordenador do Tema 7 Meio Ambiente, Mudanças Climáticas e Sustentabilidade. Os palestrantes foram Maximiliano Mardoff, Engineering Manager for Adedge Water Technologies – Chart Industries Company; e Filipe Duarte Santos, Presidente do Conselho Nacional do Ambiente e do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (CNADS) – Portugal. 

A sessão buscou avaliar as causas além das mudanças climáticas, trazendo para o centro da discussão as mudanças de atitude que os gestores públicos e a sociedade devem adotar, antecipando a redução dos efeitos. Também apresentou tecnologias e metodologias de contingência existentes no setor de saneamento e que possam ser utilizadas em tempos de eventos extremos.

Maximiliano Mardoff falou sobre planos de contingência para resiliência no Chile, apresentou exemplos de resiliência e detalhou quais são os eventos extremos que podem gerar impactos na água e no saneamento. 

Por sua vez, Filipe Duarte Santos trouxe para o debate o 6º relatório do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas – IPCC e falou sobre os impactos das mudanças climáticas. 

Também contribuíram com a discussão, diretamente dos estúdios da BWW, na sede da ABES-SP, Josivan Cardoso, coordenador da Câmara Temática de Gestão de Recursos Hídricos da ABES, e Roseane Maria Lopes Garcia de Souza, diretora da ABES-SP, coordenadora das Câmaras Técnicas de Saúde Ambiental e Resíduos Sólidos da ABES-SP e coordenadora da Câmara Temática Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos da ABES.

Após as apresentações, os convidados integraram um debate sobre o tema. Quem acompanhou o evento ao vivo também teve a oportunidade de interagir em um chat enviando perguntas.
