Caro associado,

2016 foi um ano marcante no Brasil e no mundo.

Em nosso país enfrentamos um período difícil, de crises financeira, fiscal e social. Ao mesmo tempo, aprendemos muitas lições e vislumbramos oportunidades.

A ABES mais uma vez reafirmou sua liderança no setor, com participação ativa no diálogo com o Poder Público, em parceria com outras entidades, com propostas ao Ministério das Cidades e disposição para colaborar com o Poder Público para a melhoria do Saneamento Ambiental.

Este foi o ano do Jubileu de Ouro da ABES e de eleições nacionais da entidade. As comemorações dos 50 anos de nossa Associação se deram com ações inovadoras, com a apresentação de um Planejamento Estratégico para a Gestão 2016/18 e o incremento de ações de comunicação, iniciativas voltadas aos associados, maior integração das Seções Estaduais, mais participação das Câmaras Temáticas e do Programa Jovens Profissionais do Saneamento.

Falando em qualificação, também temos o que comemorar: fizemos história no setor com a promoção, em parceria com o Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento – BID, de um curso EAD sobre Regulação no Saneamento, inaugurando nossa plataforma de Educação a Distância que trará muitas novidades em 2017.

A entidade promoveu ainda, em âmbitos nacional e internacional, uma série de grandes eventos, como o XVII Simpósio Luso Brasileiro de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – Silubesa em junho, em Santa Catarina, o VIII Seminário Nacional e do III Encontro Latino-Americano de Saneamento Rural, em maio, e o XII Seminário Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos, em novembro, ambos no Ceará, o Seminário “Estratégia de Recuperação de Crédito – Como Reduzir a Inadimplência em Tempos de Crise”, em maio, o Seminário o Internacional Controle de Perdas e o Enfrentamento da Crise Hídrica, em julho,  o Simpósio Nacional Impacto das Novas Leis no Saneamento Ambiental, em outubro, e o Simpósio Nacional Regulação e Tarifas do Setor de Saneamento Ambiental , em dezembro (os quatro últimos promovidos em São Paulo), com participação das Câmaras Temáticas, além das atividades das Seções Estaduais, que demonstraram, perante toda a diversidade de nosso país com dimensões continentais, o engajamento e a paixão de nossos associados, sejam eles profissionais do setor de Saneamento Ambiental, da Academia ou estudantes.

Outro marco foi o PNQS – Prêmio Nacional de Qualidade em Saneamento, que este ano completou 20 anos e ganhou iniciativas inovadoras. A partir de agora, o prêmio passa a ser anual, tendo sua próxima edição em 2017, com as mesmas categorias e três grandes novas premiações. Uma delas é a categoria Rubi, voltada a organizações que ganharam o nível IV e têm que continuar na excelência da gestão. Também passa a integrar o PNQS o Prêmio de Eficiência Operacional voltado à redução de perdas. E no ano que vem a iniciativa também contemplará os prestadores de serviços, com o Selo de Qualidade, para empresas que prestam serviços às concessionárias.

Este foi ainda um grande ano para o setor porque selou a união das duas entidades de maior representatividade técnica em Saneamento no País – ABES e AESabesp – Associação dos Engenheiros da Sabesp – para a realização, em 2017, do Congresso ABES/Fenasan 2017 – o maior encontro de Saneamento Ambiental das Américas, no espaço São Paulo Expo.

Com o tema central “Saneamento Ambiental: Desenvolvimento e Qualidade de Vida na Retomada do Crescimento”, a edição única e exclusiva, em São Paulo – SP, de 2 a 6 de outubro, reunirá os três eventos mais tradicionais do setor: o 29º Congresso Brasileiro de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental, da ABES, o 28º Encontro Técnico AESabesp e a 28ª Feira Nacional de Saneamento e Meio Ambiente – FENASAN. Juntos, constituirão a maior realização de cunho técnico e mercadológico, em saneamento ambiental e meio ambiente, já realizado no continente americano.

Todas estas realizações foram possíveis graças a um espetacular time de profissionais comprometidos com o Saneamento e o Meio Ambiente – todos os nossos associados – com quem tenho a honra e o orgulho de compartilhar estas vitórias.

Estou certo de que 2017 será um ano ainda melhor para a ABES e de que faremos história com a realização do Congresso ABES/Fenasan 2017.

Mais do que isto, estou confiante de que o Saneamento, que entrou definitivamente na pauta da sociedade, irá finalmente ocupar o lugar prioritário na agenda do país.

E nós, da ABES, continuaremos na linha de frente dessa luta, que é dos profissionais do setor, de empresas públicas e privadas e de todos os brasileiros, por mais saúde e qualidade de vida no Brasil!
