Engenheiro Mecânico de formação, era Mestre em Recursos Hídricos e Doutor em Engenharia do Meio Ambiente. Foi, por muitos anos, professor no Instituto de Pesquisas Hidráulicas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, sendo lembrado pelos alunos como excelente mestre e reconhecido pelos pares como profissional qualificado e muito experiente. Na ABES, fez parte dos Conselhos Fiscal e Consultivo da Seção Rio Grande do Sul e do Conselho Diretor Nacional. Esteve sempre disponível para cursos e eventos, sempre aberto a compartilhar conhecimento.
