Projeto Produtor de Água no Pipiripau conquista 2º lugar em premiação internacional

Iniciativa brasileira de uso sustentável da água no Distrito Federal é reconhecida no prêmio Water ChangeMaker

O Projeto Produtor de Água no Pipiripau, que estimula a conservação de água e solo na bacia do ribeirão Pipiripau (DF), conquistou o 2º lugar na premiação Water ChangeMaker Awards, promovido pela Parceria Global pela Água (GWP na sigla em inglês), que reconhece ações de todo o mundo que promovem a sustentabilidade.

Os ganhadores foram anunciados dia 25 de janeiro durante a Cúpula de Adaptação Climática 2021, realizada na Holanda. A iniciativa brasileira desenvolvida pela Agência Nacional de Águas e Saneamento Básico (ANA) e parceiros, além de coordenada pela Adasa – Agência Reguladora de Águas, Energia e Saneamento do Distrito Federal, recebeu mais de 12 mil votos em votação popular pela internet.

O 1º lugar do prêmio ficou com o projeto “The Masungi Georeserve story: Restoring forgotten watersheds through youth-led movements”, promovido pela Masungi Georeserve Foundation, das Filipinas.

O Produtor de Água no Pipiripau tem o objetivo de promover a recuperação hidroambiental da bacia hidrográfica do ribeirão Pipiripau de modo a ampliar a oferta de água que abastece os habitantes do Distrito Federal, além de melhorar a qualidade do recurso.

Por meio de boa governança e da adoção de práticas agrícolas, ambientais e de engenharia adequadas, a iniciativa aumentou a segurança hídrica de mais de 200 mil pessoas em Sobradinho e Planaltina.
