A Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES Seção São Paulo promoveu na última sexta-feira, dia 18 de setembro, o lançamento da websérie documental “Catador: reciclagem, trabalho e saúde” na comemoração da edição 2020 do DIADESOL – Dia Interamericano de Limpeza e Cidadania.
A produção é baseada no livro “Saneamento Ambiental e Saúde do Catador de Material Reciclável”, publicado pela ABES-SP, em 2018.
Na ocasião, Roseane M. Garcia Lopes de Souza, coordenadora da Câmara Técnica de Resíduos Sólidos da ABES-SP e diretora da seção, enfatizou que a websérie dialoga com os principais envolvidos do setor (empresas, cooperativas, catadores, órgãos públicos e sociedade). A minissérie será exibida nesta terça-feira, 22 de setembro, no YouTube da ABES-SP (acesse aqui e se inscreva no canal). Assista aqui ao trailer.
Realizado no programa ABES Conecta, com transmissão pelo YouTube, o evento foi moderado por Ricardo Ribeiro, da ABES-SP, e recebeu diversos convidados. Participaram da abertura: Márcio Gonçalves de Oliveira (presidente da ABES-SP), Geovanis Arrieta Bernate (Divisão de Resíduos Sólidos – Associação Interamericana de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – AIDIS), José Valverde (Comitê de Integração de Resíduos Sólidos – CIRS da Secretaria de Infraestrutura e Meio Ambiente do Estado de São Paulo – SIMA), Heliana Kátia Tavares Campos (coordenadora da Câmara Temática da ABES de Resíduos Sólidos), e Roberto Rocha (diretor nacional da Associação Nacional dos Catadores e Catadoras de Materiais Recicláveis).
Em seu discurso, o presidente da ABES-SP, Márcio Gonçalves, reforçou que a entidade promove discussões para promover melhorias sobre as questões de resíduos, do meio ambiente e da qualidade de vida dos catadores de resíduos.
José Valverde afirmou que o estado está passando por uma revisão no Plano Estadual de Resíduos Sólidos e procura dialogar com os atores do setor para realizar melhorias sobre o tema.
Apresentando a AIDIS, Geovanis Arrieta Bernate ressaltou que a associação busca promover debates e ações para levar informação sobre os resíduos sólidos na América Latina.
Roberto Rocha destacou o papel da ABES para a visibilidade e reconhecimento profissional dos catadores por meio das atividades realizadas pela entidade. Para ele, o catador é muito importante para o processo de reciclagem, coleta seletiva e execução do programa de logística reversa.
Heliana Kátia Tavares Campos discorreu sobre a atuação da Câmara de Resíduos Sólidos da ABES, que participa de conselhos de meio ambiente, de saneamento e elaboração dos planos estaduais de resíduos, além de publicar materiais e estudos sobre o tema.

Haydée Aguadé, divisão técnica da AIDIS, discorreu sobre a criação do DIADESOL – Dia Interamericano de Limpeza e Cidadania, em 2002. O objetivo da ação é desenvolver atividades que despertem a consciência das populações da América Latina sobre as questões relativas aos resíduos sólidos.
Revista Comemorativa dos 10 anos do Concurso do Desenho Infantil
Elisângela Cavalcante Sobral, integrante da Comissão do DIADESOL, explicou que os desenhos finalistas das edições do concurso de Desenho Infantil foram publicados na revista. A edição traz o personagem “Pedrinho” explicando o que cada um dos desenhos representa para conscientizar crianças e adolescentes.
