Com o objetivo de debater a universalização do saneamento básico no País, uma Mesa Redonda reunirá associações e entidades de todo o Brasil, entre as quais a Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental – ABES, na próxima sexta-feira (11), na sede da regional Sul 1 da Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB). O evento, proposto pelo deputado federal João Paulo Papa, tem como motivo a Campanha da Fraternidade Ecumênica 2016 – cujo tema é o saneamento. O evento é gratuito, aberto ao público e não é necessária inscrição prévia.
Além da ABES, estão confirmadas as presenças de grupos como o Trata Brasil; Associação Nacional dos Serviços Municipais de Saneamento – Assemae; Conselho Federal de Engenharia e Agronomia – Confea; SOS Mata Atlântica; Associação Paulista das Empresas de Consultoria e Serviços de Saneamento e Meio Ambiente – Apecs, além dos coordenadores da Campanha no Estado de São Paulo.
“A relação de convidados mostra que teremos um debate amplo, plural e muito rico, considerando as várias experiências que cada um dos representantes possui em diversos setores relacionados a essa área tão importante e fundamental para o desenvolvimento do País”, ressalta João Paulo Papa.
Para o parlamentar, a Mesa Redonda servirá como base para o trabalho desenvolvido pelas comunidades durante a Campanha. “Quem participar do ato vai conferir um quadro atualizado da situação em todo o País, além de verificar análises atuais sobre os desafios que serão enfrentados rumo à universalização, que só será alcançada, se mantidos os investimentos atuais, em 2050 – o prazo do Governo Federal era 2033”, diz.
Papa destaca, também, a importância do debate promovido em 2016. “Esse ano, a Campanha da Fraternidade joga luz a esse tema. Somos a oitava maior economia do mundo, porém 100 milhões de brasileiros ainda não contam com coleta de esgoto. Saneamento é saúde, desenvolvimento humano e econômico. Unir as Igrejas cristãs, já que esse ano a iniciativa não reúne apenas os católicos, mostra a relevância do tema e nos auxilia na missão de conscientizar a população”, concluiu.
Agenda pró-saneamento
Desde o início de seu mandato, em 2015, o deputado federal João Paulo Papa atua de forma firme na defesa da universalização do saneamento. Por meio de sua iniciativa, a Câmara criou uma subcomissão especial que debateu o tema durante o ano. Após seis audiências que envolveram 12 entidades de todo o País, o colegiado apresentou 20 recomendações para os poderes Executivo e Legislativo avançarem nesta questão.
Uma das recomendações, aliás, já foi adotada: foi criada a Subcomissão Permanente de Saneamento Ambiental, espaço que vai acolher todas as demandas relacionadas ao tema.
